Athens, GA – Pedestrian Accident with Injuries at Lumpkin St & Cedar St

Athens, GA (November 17, 2021) – At 7:54 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, November 16, a pedestrian accident occurred at an intersection in Athens.

According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Lumpkin Street and Cedar Street. A pedestrian was walking in the area of the intersection when they were struck by a passenger vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield at the intersection before striking the pedestrian.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was injured in the accident. They were taken to the hospital by ambulance but their condition is not yet known.

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time.
