Athens, GA (September 24, 2021) – At 3:55 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, September 23, a pedestrian accident occurred on a roadway in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened on Cedar Street. A pedestrian was walking in the area when the party was struck by a passenger vehicle as they crossed the street. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was injured in the accident. They are expected to recover from their injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
