Brunswick, GA (February 28, 2023) – At 4:45 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, February 27, a chase took place in Brunswick that led to injuries in several deputies.
According to Glynn County deputies, the accident happened on Spur 25. Police confirmed that a white pickup truck was traveling at speeds higher than 100 miles per hour and running red lights in the area. There was heavy traffic at the time, causing multiple vehicles to veer off the road to get out of the driver’s way. While the driver of the truck was traveling at high speeds, several deputies started to pursue them in a chase. A total of three police cruisers were struck during the chase before the truck was slammed into a median, causing it to finally come to a stop.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. A total of three deputies sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment but are expected to be okay.
A portion of the roadway was blocked in the area for some time. Police confirmed that the driver who caused the chase and collisions was taken into custody on multiple charges, though those details have not yet been released.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident continues at this time.
We would like to offer our warmest sympathies to the parties injured in this accident. We hope that they receive a speedy recovery.
