Byron, GA (September 21, 2021) – On Tuesday morning, September 21, a deputy was injured in a tractor-trailer collision in Byron.
According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on GA-11 around the area of Monticello Drive. A Sheriff’s Office deputy was traveling in the area when the vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer. The cruiser sustained front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The deputy, who has not yet been identified, was injured in the accident. The deputy was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was blocked until approximately 9 a.m. Police urged those in the area to use alternate routes until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
