Canton, GA (April 25, 2023) – A Marietta man was arrested by Canton Police after causing a head-on collision while driving on the wrong side of the road.
Kevin Phyfe was taken into custody on Friday in relation to a fatal crash that occurred in March. The incident took place when Phyfe was driving his pickup truck on I-575, just south of the Riverstone Parkway northbound off-ramp.
Investigators suspect that Phyfe collided with an oncoming sedan while traveling in the wrong direction and under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The other driver sustained serious injuries but was discharged from the hospital shortly after and is now recovering at home. His passenger, Sebastian Alonzo Domingo, tragically died at the crash site.
Phyfe was also severely injured and hospitalized following the collision. He faces multiple charges, including:
- Reckless driving
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Driving on the wrong side of the roadway
- Serious injury by vehicle
- Homicide by vehicle in the 1st degree
Phyfe was released on bond after his arrest, and the date of his next court appearance has not been disclosed.
Canton Police continue to investigate the crash and are urging anyone with information about the case to contact the department at 770-720-4883.
