Cedartown, GA – One Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Cason Rd

Cedartown, GA (December 12, 2021) – On Sunday morning, December 12, a pedestrian accident took the life of one victim in Cedartown.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on Cason Road in the area of South Main Street. A pedestrian was crossing the street when they were suddenly struck by a Ford Ranger that was traveling around the area of the intersection. The pickup truck then fled the scene of the crash.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The unidentified pedestrian was severely injured as a result of the accident. They were tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area for some time as police cleared the scene.

Police later found the red Ford Ranger not far from the scene that was responsible for the accident. The pickup truck had damages consistent with being involved in the crash. The 41-year-old male driver was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the accident. He has since been charged with hit-and-run, vehicular homicide, and DUI.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
