Dunwoody, GA (September 12, 2021) – On Sunday, September 12, an explosion caused an apartment fire with injuries in Dunwoody.
According to DeKalb County officials, the incident happened at an apartment complex at 2000 Asbury Square around the area of I-285. Calls were made after numerous people inside the apartment complex heard and felt an explosion inside the complex. Multiple people said it felt like a bomb went off or a car hit the complex. Fire crews said that there was a strong smell of gas in the area as well.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. A total of four people were seriously injured as a result of the incident. One person sustained a serious burn and another received a fractured leg. The conditions of the injured victims are not known at this time.
Three of the units were horrifically damaged as a result of the fire. The area was blocked for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
