Fairburn, GA – DUI Ambulance Accident with Fatality on W Campbellton St

Fairburn, GA (November 13, 2021) – Around 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening, November 12, a fatal DUI ambulance accident occurred in Fairburn.

According to Georgia officials, the accident happened on West Campbellton Street. A 34-year old male ambulance driver was traveling in the area when the vehicle suddenly went off the side of the road, causing the ambulance to ride into a ditch where it forcefully overturned. At the time, there was a patient in the back.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The patient, identified as a 66-year-old man, was in the back of the ambulance at the time. He was unrestrained at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries caused by the accident.

Police quickly determined that the driver of the ambulance was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has since been charged with DUI, second-degree manslaughter, failing to maintain his lane, and more.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
