Gainesville, GA – Pedestrian Crash Involving Truck on Athens Hwy

Gainesville, GA (December 10, 2021) – On Friday morning, December 10, a pedestrian crash with injuries occurred in Gainesville.

According to officials, the accident happened on the Athens Highway around the area of Monroe Drive. A 65-year-old pedestrian male from Flowery Branch was walking across the street when he was struck by a big rig in the area. Police are not sure why the pedestrian was crossing at that time or why the truck was unable to stop in time.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian suffered from broken bones and lacerations. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment and is expected to recover.

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
