LaFayette, GA (March 3, 2023) – One person lost their life in a fatal car accident that took place at an intersection in LaFayette on the evening of Thursday, March 2.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at 5:57 p.m. at the intersection of GA-1 and North Long Hollow Road. Police confirmed that a 2011 Toyota RAV4 was traveling east near the intersection and started to make a left turn as it was entering. As the driver was making a turn, their vehicle collided with a Ford Transit vehicle due to reasons that are not entirely known. The accident led to extensive damages to both vehicles and debris was left scattered all over the road.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Toyota, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the collision.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the road was blocked at the intersection for some time. This led to extensive delays until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
We would like to offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victim who lost their life in this horrific accident.
