Macon, GA – Macon Woman Killed In Hit & Run On Rocky Creek Rd.

Bibb Co, GA (Updated: March, 16, 2023) A woman from Macon lost her life on Wednesday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Rocky Creek Road, according to officials.

Tracie Yvonne Pitts, 46, was crossing the 2400 block of Rocky Creek Road near Bloomfield Road at approximately 9:45 p.m. when she was hit by a car, as stated in a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Pitts passed away at the scene, and deputy coroner Lonnie Miley confirmed that her next of kin had been notified.

As of Wednesday, the driver responsible for hitting Pitts remained at large, the sheriff’s office reported in their statement.

The car’s owner returned to the scene and spoke with investigators, claiming that a man known as “D” was “test driving” her vehicle when the accident occurred. After allegedly striking Pitts, “D” returned the car to the owner and informed her that she needed to go to Rocky Creek Road.

The Bibb sheriff’s office has appealed to the public for assistance in locating a “shade tree” mechanic named “D,” as mentioned in their statement.
