Marietta, GA – Auto-Pedestrian Wreck on Delk Rd Leaves Woman Dead

Marietta, GA (November 20, 2021) – At 9:00 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, November 16, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Marietta.

According to officers with the Marietta Police Department, the incident happened on Delk Road. A 58-year-old woman was attempting to cross the road with her school-aged grandchildren. Shortly thereafter, she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling in the area. The driver continued driving after the accident.

Approximately 30 minutes later, a 63-year-old man contacted police and confirmed that he believed he hit something on Delk Road. He allegedly found damage to his car when he arrived home.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The woman was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. The children did not suffer injuries in the collision.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman was taken into custody. He has since been charged with felony hit-and-run but additional charges could be expected.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
