Snellville, GA – Police Officer Injured in Car Crash at Scenic Hwy & Wisteria Dr

Snellville, GA (September 23, 2021) – Around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 23, a car crash with injuries occurred at an intersection in Snellville.

According to Gwinnett County Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Scenic Highway and Wisteria Drive. A Nissan Versa was traveling west in the area and attempted to make a left turn when it ended up driving into the path of a patrol cruiser. The patrol vehicle was unable to stop in time and struck the driver’s side of the Versa, which caused extensive damages to the involved vehicles.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Versa, as well as the officer, were injured in the accident. The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment but they are expected to recover.

The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time. Police confirmed that the driver of the Versa was charged with failing to yield while making a turn.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
