Summerville, GA (September 30, 2021) – At 4:19 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 29, a man was killed in a pedestrian accident on a highway in Summerville.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on GA-1. An electrical contract worker was walking in the area so that they could block traffic. Another employee was backing a flatbed in the area when the truck ran into the first worker. The worker, identified as a 29-year-old man from Rockmart, was knocked to the ground as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
